Special Abilities

Legendary Resistance

If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Usage: 3 per day

Actions

  • Multiattack: The dragon can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.
  • Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (2d10 + 8) piercing damage.
  • Claw: Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d6 + 8) slashing damage.
  • Tail: Melee Weapon Attack: +13 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 8) bludgeoning damage.
  • Frightful Presence: Each creature of the dragon’s choice that is within 120 feet of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon’s Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.
  • Breath Weapons: The dragon uses one of the following breath weapons.
Cold Breath. The dragon exhales an icy blast in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw, taking 58 (13d8) cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Paralyzing Breath. The dragon exhales paralyzing gas in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Legendary Actions

  • Detect: The dragon makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.
  • Tail Attack: The dragon makes a tail attack.
  • Wing Attack (Costs 2 Actions): The dragon beats its wings. Each creature within 10 ft. of the dragon must succeed on a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw or take 15 (2d6 + 8) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. The dragon can then fly up to half its flying speed.

Lair Actions

  1. Frost Breath: On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the dragon can cool the air in its lair to freezing temperatures. Each creature of the dragon’s choice within 60 feet of the dragon must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 6 (1d12) cold damage and have their speed reduced by 10 feet until the start of the dragon’s next turn.
  2. Reflective Ice: The dragon can cause surfaces within its lair to become slick and reflective, almost mirror-like, over a 40-foot square area it can see within 120 feet. The area becomes difficult terrain, and creatures that enter or start their turn in the area must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or fall prone. Additionally, the reflective surfaces can be used by the dragon to create illusory duplicates of itself as a distraction, though these illusions do not have any physical effect.
  3. Whispering Wind: The dragon can manipulate the wind to carry whispers and voices through its lair. It can use this wind to deliver messages to creatures within the lair or to disorient intruders. Creatures of the dragon’s choice within 120 feet of it must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be confused (as per the confusion spell) until the end of their next turn. This represents the silver dragon’s affinity for communication and its protective nature, using non-lethal means to confound potential threats.

Silver Dragon Regional Effects

  • Eternal Winter: The climate within 1 mile of the dragon’s lair is unnaturally cold, causing heavy snowfalls and freezing temperatures year-round. This perpetual winter can be harsh but also creates a stunningly beautiful landscape of ice and snow, reflecting the silver dragon’s love for the cold and beauty.
  • Aurora Skies: The night sky above the dragon’s lair is frequently lit by beautiful auroras, creating a magical atmosphere. This natural phenomenon can boost morale and provide light during the darkest hours, embodying the hope and inspiration often associated with silver dragons.
  • Harmonious Fauna: Animals within 1 mile of the lair exhibit unusual levels of cooperation and peaceful coexistence. Predators do not hunt as aggressively, and all creatures seem to live in harmony. This effect showcases the silver dragon’s influence in promoting peace and understanding among the creatures of its domain.
