Background Peasant

Peasant

You were born into a simple life, far removed from the luxuries and complexities of the aristocracy. You've labored hard just to make ends meet and have perhaps been a serf or tenant farmer on another person's land. Life has been a continuous cycle of sowing, reaping, and trying to save enough to make it through the winters.

Skill Proficiencies: Athletics, Survival

Equipment: A set of common clothes, a handmade trinket (like a carved wooden amulet or woven bracelet), and a pouch containing 2 gp

Starting Equipment

You start with the following equipment, in addition to the equipment granted by your class:

  • (a) clothes, common or (b) amulet

Feature: Humble Roots

Your lowly status earns you the common touch, allowing you to easily blend in among other peasants and laborers. Consequently, you can gather information and rumors from lower class communities much easier than most. In rural settings, you can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate among other peasants, unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them.

Suggested Characteristics

Peasants are simple folk with little ambition for power or wealth. Their dreams are often limited to a good harvest or a warm home, but they possess an innate resilience that comes from a life of hardship. They often have a strong sense of community and are willing to sacrifice for the greater good, even if it’s at the expense of their own comfort.
